Happy Holidays - 2009
 


Here we are at the end of the year.
Travel Buddies had some great destinations in 2009. In Feb. We did the Antarctica, and Chile and Peru, the main attraction in Peru of course was Machu Picchu...... what an experience. I would do again it was so wonderful. Cruising through the Antarctica was so breathtaking and you have to have been there to understand what the Antarctica is all about.

In Sept 2009 we did a 32 day cruise from Vancouver to Sydney Australia. Seeing, Hawaii, Tahiti, Moorea, Western Samoa, and America Samoa, as well as Fiji and great ports in New Zealand before arriving in Sydney Australia on Oct. 24th. We hit the Samoa’s the day after the Tsunami, what devastation. They wanted the ship to dock at their ports as needed the tourist dollars. Princess Cruise donated generously, as well as the passengers on the ship.
We then did a land tour of Australia, and went to Tasmania, Melbourne, Cairns (Great Barrier Reef), Airlee Beach, Brisbane and back to Sydney and headed home on November 15th, just in time to do our Christmas Shopping.

We have some exciting trips for 2010...Greek Island Cruise end of May, June doing the “Passion Play” this is done once in every 10 years. Then Russian Waterways in July and in November going on the “Oasis of the Seas”, one of the largest ships built and a remarkable layout on ship, this you can experience when we do the Caribbean on November 20th-2010.

Then the World Cruise is Jan. 18th-2011, and it is broken down into 4 segments, you can do one of the Segments or the whole World Cruise, some really exciting ports.

We appreciate your support and look forward to traveling with you in the New Year. I have now on board Gay Carter who is helping with Travel Buddies and will be hosting some of our wonderful trips.

      An article in our daily paper, re-enforces why Travel Buddies has the policy that everyone traveling with the group must have insurance. They state.

INSURANCE --- DON’T TAKE OFF WITHOUT IT

      Whether your next vacation is to visit relatives across the country, a weekend trip to the U.S. (or in the states to Canada), a cruise or anything in-between, here are a few suggestions to help make sure you stay happy and healthy on your next vacation.
  1. Don’t leave your province-state of residence without medical insurance, as you may not have as much coverage as you think…(a lot of policies have a limit and some require you to pay for services and collect when you get home)

  2. Make sure to carry proof of travel insurance with you, along with the Companies name and phone number. Leave a copy of this information at home with family or friends, as well.

  3. Travel arrangements are often non-refundable so don’t risk losing your entire travel investments should something unexpected happen. ( Yes this does happen the unexpected and when it does it is a nightmare that no one wants to be in)
  4. Make sure your Passport is current. (most countries now require at least 6 months from date of departure)

  5. If you are a permanent resident of Canada, don’t forget that you require a Permanent Resident Card to return to Canada.
  6. Make sure that you are up to date on all your Immunizations. Contact your doctor or local travel-medicine clinic well in advance of your trip.
